Minorities have been disproportionately hurt by a lack of access to capital needed to start or expand a business. Minorities make up 32% of the United States population, but business ownership represents only 18%. There are a few ways consumers, business owners, and municipalities can do to help support minority owned businesses. The most important thing consumers can do is to support the establishments whenever possible. Shopping at local places over major chain stores promote the local economy.
