Why Your Business Needs Video Media

A lot of us enjoy watching YouTube instead of working. After all, we as a society have become addicted to video media and the instant satisfaction we can gain from it. Whether it’s used for laughs or to learn something, videos are one of the most consumed forms of entertainment.

Let Your Customers Trust You

We’re often told that seeing is believing and that no-one likes interacting with a faceless entity. Having a video can give your company a sense of humanity that people can connect to. This quality is what makes  people interested in a business; videos help separate your company from the myriad of logos found in a Google search.

The feeling of empathy and that connection that your customers will spark with your business is unparalleled, and it will stay that way. Because fewer and fewer people have the time to read long articles advertising the features and reasons that they should use your business. We’d much rather watch a video, especially if it’s engaging.

Can’t Avoid Videos

The moment we log onto YouTube, we gain access to millions of videos, all of which have the potential to advertise your business. Facebook and other social media platforms are also plastered with videos. Some of these are entertaining while others are sponsored advertisements that we’ll watch because we’re curious about everything on our feed.

Instagram is one of the greatest scrollings addictions, and it’s filled with advertisements. These are all in videos explaining why you should play a game or why a particular company is the best choice for any service. Your video could be there and bringing in many new customers.

They’re More Engaging

How many times have we all opted to watch the movie instead of reading the book? We would rather watch a Harry Potter movie and follow The Boy Who Lived, for a couple of hours, rather than spend multiple days reading the book. A movie makes us feel as though we’re right there in the moment.

The same reasoning applies to business videos, watching “how business works” video engages us more than reading the same information from an article. Because of this, we have higher retention and understanding of the information. This puts your business in a more positive light.

What Are the Stats?

So, after everything, you may want proof. According to Vidico, a company that produces videos for businesses, their website claims that users have an increase of up to 15% in action conversation rates from having one of their videos.

ACR is a metric used to measure the percentage of users who take the desired action. Examples of ACRs that could be related to your business include the number of people who sign up for a newsletter, get a membership, or purchase a product.

Should This Have Been a Video?

Yes and no, we’ve learned that having a video increases the trust between business and customer, that they’re more engaging and that videos are unavoidable. However, there’s a necessary mix between video and written media that attracts the most amount of clients.
