Maintaining Optimum Engagement Levels During a Training Event

The world we live in is changing quickly, and businesses must evolve to keep up with the competition. This means regularly training staff on the latest market trends and technologies, to avoid falling behind.

Training events can be notoriously dull, with employees lacking motivation and not making the most of the training opportunity. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. With the right tools and techniques, you can optimise employee engagement and make your training conference a success.

Location is Crucial

It’s important to choose a location that supports your goals. This includes having the right technologies available, as well as offering spacious and comfortable seating for attendees. The room should be quiet enough for people to concentrate yet be in a location which is easily accessible for attendees. This includes having adequate parking and public transport links.

It’s also advisable to select a venue which offers catering, so that your employees aren’t forced to leave the building for a lunch break. If your attendees are hungry, they will struggle to concentrate and lack motivation.

Set Yourself Up for Success

The key to running a successful training event is to thoroughly prepare. This includes making sure that you test all equipment before the event, so that you don’t get held up by technical issues. For all equipment which is owned by the venue, ensure that there is adequate support offered throughout the day in case anything goes wrong.

You’ll also need to perform a risk assessment to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries during the event. After all, there’s nothing more distracting than a colleague becoming injured. There are many different event courses on offer which go through the process of performing risk assessments and fully preparing for an event, helping you to set yourself up for success.

Optimize the Timetable

The timetable is one of the most crucial aspects of any training event. Create an agenda that your attendees can consult throughout the day, so that they can see what is coming up. Include the most important items at the top of the agenda in the morning, whilst energy is high and attendees are alert.

Make it clear in the agenda where the breaks will be, including the lunch break. It can be difficult to concentrate when you’re hungry, so planning in regular breaks for drinks, snacks and lunch can help to boost your attendees’ motivation and concentration.

In the afternoon, as motivation begins to wane, consider hiring a motivational speaker to boost your attendees’ energy levels. This will help you to get the most out of your attendees, ensuring that motivation levels are maintained throughout the training event.

This is also a good time of the day to implement more hands-on learning and group collaboration to make your attendees feel involved and raise energy levels.

Training events can be tough, with attendees often losing motivation during the afternoon. However, by planning your training event effectively and organising the day, you can maintain optimum motivation and help your attendees to get the most out of your training event.
