Yoga Teacher Jolene Cherry on Changing Your Perspective and Transforming Your Life

Dealing with tough times? During the global pandemic COVID-19, a lot of us are experiencing similar difficulty. Whether you are simply worried about your family members’ health and safety, or you or a loved one has been laid off during the pandemic, it’s undoubtedly a tough time. Your struggles can also be completely unrelated to the coronavirus. While those difficult days may be scary, changing our mindset, and looking at the positive can help us grow into more successful people.

Jolene Cherry is the ideal yoga instructor and personal trainer in Portland, Oregon, for those looking to reach physical fitness and harmony in life. Jolene also offers guidance for healthy nutrition to strike a perfect balance in your life. Check out her tips for changing perspective and becoming a stronger person.

Find the positive: We know that at times it can feel like the universe is working against us, and everything that can go wrong is going wrong. These are the times when our strength is tested. We need to remind ourselves to look for the positive in these situations because yes, sometimes it can seem as if the positives in our life are hiding from us. This can be anything found anywhere, and it doesn’t have to be a big ordeal. It can be something as small as paying a bill. If you are struggling financially right now but were still able to pay the water bill, that is awesome! Your family can continue to have running water. Maybe your flowers in the garden are blooming beautifully, that’s another positive and a sign of growth and life. Seek out the positives in life, reflect on them, and improve your attitude, which will have a significant impact on daily life.

Practice Gratitude: In these tough times, it can also be hard to be grateful. Practice the same mindset as finding positivity and look for things to be thankful for. Take some time every day to reflect and be thankful for what you do have instead of focusing on what you don’t have. Think about your wonderful family and how much joy they bring you, and release your gratitude into the universe. Maybe your spouse lost their job, but you still have yours, reflect on that blessing and meditate on how lucky and grateful you are to be employed.

Lend a Helping Hand: Helping others, especially if they are less fortunate than you, is a great exercise to practice gratitude. Along the way of doing a good deed, you will likely conclude that you don’t have it so bad, and you’ll be able to find more things to be grateful for in your life. When lending a helping hand by volunteering time or money, people often instantly feel better about themselves and feel confident that they are at least trying to make the world a better place.

You will find that practicing these shifts in your perspective will change your entire life just through your attitude. It may seem foreign or silly at first, but once you get used to slowing down, smelling the roses, and reflecting on the good things you do have in life, your world will start to change, and you will become a happier, more positive person.
