The IT Professional of the Future: Cybersecurity and Cloud as the Foundations of the New Digital Era

07-08-25

The digital transformation, accelerated by advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI), is profoundly reshaping the dynamics of the professional world — and the Information Technology (IT) sector is at the heart of this whirlwind. The demand for skilled talent has never been higher, but mastering programming languages alone is no longer enough to stand out. The new IT professional profile requires versatility, analytical vision, and the ability to interpret large volumes of data, in addition to a deep understanding of the impacts of AI, intelligent automation, and other technological forces shaping the current landscape.

With more than two decades of experience in high-complexity environments, Tiago is a reference in Brazil and abroad when it comes to secure infrastructure, cloud computing, and 24/7 monitoring. Working with clients such as GM, Audi, Vertem, and mission-critical hospitals, he has witnessed digital transformation since its early days and, more than that, has helped shape it with practical and innovative solutions. “Information security is no longer an extra layer — it needs to be in the DNA of every technological structure,” the specialist says.

This paradigm shift is no small matter. According to Cybersecurity Ventures, by 2025 cybercrime is expected to cause more than US$10.5 trillion in losses per year worldwide. Cybersecurity, therefore, is no longer an option — it has become a minimum condition for the operation of companies and governments. And it’s not just about technology: it’s about trust, continuity, and reputation.

Tiago has experienced this firsthand. At Exata Tech, for example, he was responsible for migrating the entire physical server infrastructure to a high-security private cloud, with robust backups, encryption, and compliance with international standards. “The client expects full availability, top-tier protection, and quick response. There’s no room for improvisation in environments where data is critical,” he emphasizes.

Cloud computing, in fact, is another essential pillar of modern IT. With the boom in remote work and the digital transformation accelerated by the pandemic, migrating to the cloud has gone from trend to necessity. But, as Tiago warns, it’s not just about moving systems outside the company.

“The cloud doesn’t solve everything by itself. You need well-thought-out architecture, access control, real-time monitoring, and disaster recovery strategies. Lack of planning is the biggest risk,”

he explains.

That’s exactly what he implemented at TRIEX and DEVSQUAD, where he developed hybrid environments — combining cloud and on-premises servers — achieving significant gains in performance, stability, and security. In some cases, operational performance jumped from 40% to 100% after the implemented changes, thanks to optimized networks, VPNs, and automated backup systems.

The profile of the IT professional of the future, therefore, goes beyond technical expertise. They must have analytical thinking, business vision, the ability to communicate with multidisciplinary teams, and, above all, a constant willingness to learn. Tiago is a living example of this mindset: he keeps his certifications updated in Fortinet, Check Point, Linux, and other key areas, and shares knowledge through technical books focused on practical solutions for networking and security.

According to him, companies are not just looking for professionals who can “tighten screws,” but those who can translate risks into actions, align technology with strategy, and ensure service continuity in the face of any unforeseen event. “More than knowing how to handle systems, you need to be able to anticipate risks, communicate with non-technical leaders, and translate threats into strategic decisions,” he says.

The demand for this type of professional is only expected to grow. (ISC)² estimates that there is currently a global shortage of more than 3 million cybersecurity specialists. In Brazil, Assespro projects that around 800,000 new IT professionals will be needed by 2025, especially in cloud and digital security areas. It’s an ocean of opportunities for those willing to dive in.

Tiago believes the key lies in constant updating, daily practice, and the humility to recognize that technology evolves faster than any résumé. “It’s not just about systems; it’s about people, data, and social impact. What’s at stake isn’t just the operation of a company — it’s the trust of an entire society,” he concludes.

The future of IT has already begun. And it demands much more than technical mastery: it demands vision, strategy, and a commitment to building a safer and more efficient digital world. Professionals like Tiago Mendes A. Mota de Avelar show that it is possible to anticipate tomorrow with the right actions today. And that, in the current landscape, protecting data is, above all, protecting the future.
