Why the Ready to Drink Cocktail Became Popular

Small business has had an interesting run in the ways that people have been consuming alcoholic beverages in recent times. Being in isolation gave rise to a newly named type of drink – the quarantini. But what if you don’t want to go to the trouble or lack the ingredients and recipes? You might think that modern trends only are about craft beer and the like, but there’s been a new trend emerging – the ready to drink cocktail. These made for you drinks, sometimes of the frozen pop variety, are a welcome addition as pandemic restrictions have made it hard for us to enjoy mixed drinks from our favorite bartenders.

How much has the pandemic changed the way we drink? These stats don’t lie: before the pandemic from 2019 through 2020, alcohol consumption increased by 14%. Once the pandemic hit, last year saw a jump of alcohol sales online by 44%. Popular food shopping gig economy service Instacart saw a huge increase – Instacart orders that contained alcohol in them grew more than 75%.
Let’s all raise a glass – or frozen cocktail – to better times ahead. Learn more about how and why the ready to drink cocktail trend is here to stay in the visual deep dive below:
