Meet Jonathan Bunge: Managing Partner at Quinn Emanuel and Co-Chair Of the National Trial Practice Group
Jonathan Bunge is an accomplished trial lawyer who currently serves as Managing Partner of the Chicago office of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, one of the largest law firms in the world and the largest devoted solely to litigation. With more than 30 years of experience, Bunge is widely recognized for his exceptional litigation skills, strategic thinking, and unwavering dedication to his clients.
Bunge obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School, where he graduated with honors. He clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Byron White, gaining valuable insights into the workings of the federal judiciary.
After his clerkship, Bunge joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago, quickly establishing himself as a rising star among federal prosecutors. During his time at U.S. Attorney’s Office, Bunge was Deputy Chief for the General Crimes Division and the lead prosecutor in a series of high-profile cases, including the prosecution of the Ford Heights, Illinois Chief of Police and six other police officers on corruption and racketeering charges and various cases arising out of the Silver Shovel investigation into political corruption in Chicago.
Bunge received numerous awards as a federal prosecutor, including the Department of Justice’s Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant United States Attorney and four Department of Justice Special Achievement Awards.
After a stellar career at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Bunge joined the law firm Kirkland & Ellis. In 2015, he left to join Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, as Managing Partner of their Chicago Office. As a partner at the firm, Bunge has represented clients in a wide range of high-profile cases, including some of the largest and most complex disputes in recent history.

He has successfully tried over 50 jury and bench trials in various types of cases, including commercial disputes, non-compete and trade secret disputes, products liability cases, environmental matters, white-collar criminal defense matters, and securities and financial disputes.

He has also co-founded a non-profit called Living in Peace Successfully.
