4 Hacks to Declutter Your Office Space

I’m one of those people that simply can’t be productive when there’s clutter around. For that reason, ensuring my office looks and feels good is essential for my workflow and overall mood. Whether you’ve got a home office, or an office in a traditional setting, there are a few changes you can make to ensure that your office feels and looks as good as possible. If you’re ready to tackle decluttering your office, keep reading for my top 4 tips.

1. Streamline Your Desk
Your desk should ideally only have the things you’re going to use that day on it. It can be easy to use your desk as essentially a storage space, having piles of papers stacked up on one side, as well as a random collection of bits and bobs. But all that clutter can impact how you feel about your workspace and negatively impact your concentration, too. For that reason I suggest taking a long hard look at what you actually need to use each day, and only having that on your desk. You may have to invest in some storage solutions, such as a filing cabinet, to help make this a reality. I also personally enjoy having a clean scented candle on my desk at all times so I can light it when I’m feeling uninspired. Having a tidy, streamlined desk will do wonders for your mood and energy levels at work.

2. Don’t Ignore Your Desktop
Is the desktop of your computer also in chaos? This can impact how efficient you are on your computer, also how fast it loads, and your overall feeling when you log in each day and see the chaos. Ideally, you’d go through your computer’s desktop and clear out all the things you’re no longer using, but if you’re short on time the best thing you can do is to create a folder called Desktop, and move all the files originally on the desktop to this folder. That way at least when you log in, it will be clean and tidy the next time you log in.

3. Add in Regular Cleaning
If your office space feels out of control, it might be worth implementing a regular cleaning schedule to help tackle it. Perhaps you spend 10 minutes every Wednesday afternoon tidying and decluttering, to work towards your goal of a more relaxed and organized office space. In my experience if I set out to do something for ten minutes, once I’m there and started, I keep going. For that reason I suggest scheduling your regular office cleaning on a day where you don’t have any extra commitments, like searching where to buy the best homes for sale in san miguel de allende.

4. Consider Organizers
You might want to invest a little in specific containers and organizers to help you stay more organized. I find when everything has a place, it is much easier to keep everything in its place. I personally love drawer organizers, because they stop my office drawers from turning into a sea of chaos. You can get organizers for almost every part of your office, from pen holders, through to cable organizers. Figure out what will help you feel more comfortable, and invest in those items.
