Cannabis Opens New Doors in the US Job Market

It wasn’t that long ago that cannabis was seen in a very negative light for the majority of those in the US. Although it has a very long history as a pain relief drug all over the world, the stigma of cannabis being the “gateway drug” has kept it in an “illegal” status in the US until now.

In this modern culture, cannabis is slowly being legalized state by state and the market is growing at a rapid pace. From 2019 to 2020, the cannabis job market saw a year over year growth of 32%. By 2021, legal cannabis already provided 321k jobs across the country and that number is set to reach 600k within the next few years.

The legalization of cannabis provides a wide array of jobs. Obviously, there are cannabis specific jobs such as master extractor, master grower, extractor technician, and dispensary manager. These jobs can range anywhere from 27-250k depending on the position and qualifications, however, they are certainly other jobs in this market that are not specific to the cannabis field.

The growing cannabis market is also providing many jobs for those who could provide support services such as IT, legal services, HR, accounting, security, logistics and more. Legalized cannabis is opening doors for employment all over the country.
