7 Ways to Get Your Prospects’ Attention Using Social Media

Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, YouTube, and LinkedIn—these are just some of the social networks being used by small business owners today. However, with so many marketing platforms and so much competition, how exactly do you attract and retain your prospects’ attention? Here are seven tips you have to keep in mind…

Home Is Where Your Prospects Are

The first thing you have to know is where exactly your prospects are. Are they devoted Facebook users or Twitter users? Do they visit YouTube often or are they professionals who frequent LinkedIn? Having a clear idea of your prospects’ background will help you decide which platform will best help in promoting your business and establishing unbreakable customer relationships.

A Post a Day

Consistency is a must when trying to get your prospect’s attention on social media. It’s not necessary to post ten times a day. You can do as few as two posts, you should aim to publish them at the same times every day to build anticipation. Make sure they are also keyword-optimized, informative, and witty to easily catch your readers’ attention.

What Time Is It?

Most social networks today offer their own analytics tool, with which you can find out who frequents your page, where they are from, and what specific parts of or posts from your social profile they specifically love. All these data are important, but you should particularly pay attention to the times and days when your followers are most active. With this, you can time your posts and ensure that they reach and attract as many people as possible.

Show, Don’t Tell

Text posts are great, but social media users’ attention is fleeting. The best way to get their attention is to be visual and use compelling, shocking, and colorful images (e.g., photos, comics, and infographics). You can also use short but meaningful and entertaining videos. They don’t always need to be about your niche, but it will be beneficial if you can somehow connect the two together.

Follow the Trends

Gangnam Style, Harlem Shake, and Flappy Bird—all these were trends you could have greatly benefitted from, if you have used them wisely during the peak of their fame. Without a doubt, following and talking about new trends, personalizing your posts, and featuring prominent personalities can easily help you get your prospects’ attention. Using relevant hashtags and posted at the right time, this can literally give you thousands of new followers and leads overnight.

Get Your Followers Involved

People love getting involved with brands and campaigns they like, and they love it even more when their efforts are appreciated. By asking your followers and prospects their opinions about niche issues you care about, products or services you wish to offer or improve, and other relevant topics that they are interested in, you can easily attract their attention and, even better, get gain their trust faster.

Give Some Lovin’

Finally, you can get your prospects’ attention by showing your love in the form of a gift certificate, a free product, a special report, or a discount to a specific service you like to use or one that your own company offers. You can give these little gifts away through a simple contest wherein your current and prospective customers can enter and win by:

1. Following your page
2. Liking/sharing/retweeting/repining your promo post
